SUMMARY:
Bicoastal Media Columbia River is seeking an operations assistant based in its Hood River, Oregon office. Will work primarily weekday mornings & afternoons, plus varied hours depending on sports seasons and live events. Occasional assignments at our studio in The Dalles on location. Duties include the following: production and board operations, weekday morning talk show program weekdays, 8 a.m.-9 a.m. The coordination & installation of agency and network ads into broadcast systems, create and coordinate Public Service Announcements (PSA) content on all stations in the market. install daily broadcast logs into station operating systems, create localization content for satellite programming, perform Emergency Alert System tests, assisting in programming and scheduling shows, commercials, and live events, commercial production, and other tasks.
Hours: 30 to 40 a week
Compensation: $17.00 to $18.50/hour, Non-exempt – D.O.E.
Reports To: Operations Manager
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Fully competent with Microsoft Office Products and strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and oratory skills
- Experience producing written work
- Ability to meet deadlines on short notice
- Strong proofreading, keyboarding, and organizational skills
- Experience with Adobe suite of programs (Photoshop, Premier, Audition etc.) a plus
- Experience with broadcast automation systems a plus
- Experience with production of live and recorded broadcast programming and commercial content a plus
- Experience in publishing content to the Internet a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to work for extended periods of time
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Dynamic, fast-paced work environment with five radio stations in Hood River and The Dalles
- Weekday mornings & afternoons, plus varied hours depending on sports seasons and live events, based out of our Hood River studio but also with assignments in our studio in The Dalles.

RESPONSIBILITES
- Assisting in identifying & uploading suitable content for websites &social media accounts.
- Assisting in programming and scheduling shows, commercials, and live events
- Commercial production
- Conducting & recording of interviews
- Contributing as talent for various digital and broadcast content pieces and shows.
- Coordinate installation of agency and network makegood ads into broadcast systems
- Create and coordinate PSA content on all stations in the market
- Create localization content for satellite programming
- Creative input & production tasks for promos, features and other programming
- Install daily broadcast logs into station operating systems
- Operation of various broadcast control boards
- Other programming and on-air duties as needed.
- Perform Emergency Alert System tests
- Produce and board op Mid-Columbia Today program weekdays, 8 a.m.-9 a.m.
- Research and show prep.
- Serve as a back-up when Mid-Columbia Mornings/Mid-Columbia Today host is not available
- Serve as backup news anchor
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
