Job Description
Established in 1984, Bicycle Adventures has been offering guided, small group bike tours for over 40 years.
As a Tour Guide you will have the opportunity to showcase the stunning beauty of the incredible destinations we ride to visitors from around the world. We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team from May 1 through October 15 on a part-time or full-time basis. If you love cycling and the outdoors, enjoy interacting with people, and have a knack for storytelling, this is a dream job! Together with your Head Guide, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our multi-day road bike tours for groups of up to 13 guests.
Responsibilities
- Lead guided bike and e-bike tours through ID, MT, SD, WA, WY, and BC as outlined in the tour itinerary.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of guests.
- Work positively with other team members to implement all aspects of a BA tour from pre-trip guest communication to post tour clean-up.
- Provide guests with a safe, meaningful, and unforgettable experience.
- Engage and respond to guests in a positive, friendly, and supportive manner, including anticipating their needs.
- Share your knowledge about the local flora, fauna, geography, and history with guests in an interesting and accessible way.
- Represent Bicycle Adventures' mission, vision, and values.
- Exhibit professional behavior when communicating with guests, team members, and partners.
- Assist with bike maintenance.
- Care for BA's bicycles, E-Bikes, vehicles, and trailers.
- Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in BA's Guide Manual.
Skills & Qualifications
Although it is preferred, you do not need to have all the skills or qualifications below to apply. If there are any missing, we expect that you will be eager to bridge the gap if you are hired.
Prioritizes Safety
- Maintains current certifications including First Aid & CPR, Medical Driver’s Card (physical exam required), and Food Handler’s Permit (certifications not required to apply, but must be obtained upon hire)
- Safe driver, clean record, able to drive and back 36’ of van & trailer
- Exhibits a strong commitment to safety, attentiveness to the road, ability to assess situations for potential safety hazards, minimize risks, and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Exemplary Customer Service
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide exceptional guest service.
- Comfortable engaging with guests of diverse backgrounds and ages.
- A great presenter. You are in front of the group, all the time.
- Able to identify complaints and handle conflicts.
- Able to give clear direction.
Cycling
- Strong capable cyclist
- Skilled bike mechanic
- Able to coach guests of any ability
Storytelling and Education
- Knowledge about the destinations we operate in (ID, MT, SD, WA, WY, and BC), or curiosity to learn about the local flora, fauna, geography, history, and popular attractions of the areas.
Environmental Stewardship
- Promotes and practices sustainable and responsible tourism.
- Receives and maintains Leave No Trace certification.
Other
- Strong work ethic

- Strong enough to load bikes on top of van/trailer, lift 50 lb. coolers
