THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently hiring for the role of Industrial Shop Laborer.
The Industrial Shop Laborer under the Supervision of the Assembly Supervisor is responsible for supporting all departments in the fabrication, assembly and shipping preparation of the compressor package while ensuring all safety procedures, standards and best practices are strictly maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
- Responsible for staging materials at the specified work location for all departments.
- Run multiple types of equipment such as saws, grinders and all hand tools.
- Assist in all departments as required.
- Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all applicable safety and sanitation procedures.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment and help to maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Participates in toolbox meetings.
- Adheres to and promotes compliance with all Company PPE requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES (required skills and abilities):
- Ability to use hand tools and applicable shop machines correctly and safely.
- Ability to run multiple types of equipment such as saws, bevellers, and torches.
- Ability to take/read measurements.
- Must use provided PPE to perform job in accordance with safety standards.
- One year of industrial experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work as a team member and help your coworkers as needed.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances and in small areas with many moving pieces/parts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a manufacturing environment. The employee is exposed to hot, cold, and outside weather conditions. Employees are working with moving mechanical parts, fumes and caustic chemicals are present. The noise level in the environment includes exposure to loud noise levels.
