What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager/Electric Motor Sales Specialist position at Biedler's Electric Motor Repair?
Biedler's Electric Motor Repair has been a small family-owned business for 70 years. We are a unique mixture of old and new. Our retail store/repair shop feels like a throwback to yesteryear where customers can expect expert, friendly solutions to their problems and things can actually get fixed instead of just getting thrown in the trash. On the other hand, half of our business now comes from online sales through our websites. As a small business, we need someone with a broad set of interests and abilities - someone who is willing to wear multiple hats depending on the needs at hand. We are currently looking for a service manager/electric motor sales specialist.
Here is a breakdown of the job duties for the two parts of the job:
Service Manager:
- Communicate with customers to set clear expectations of completion dates and estimated costs of repair jobs.
- Ensure that necessary purchase orders have been received from corporate customers
- Interface with technicians to balance customer-requested completion timeframe with technician workload.
- Work with vendors to obtain quotes for special order parts and order the necessary parts once the repair has been approved.
- Review outstanding jobs to ensure that parts are ordered and check on overdue orders.
- Follow up with customers regarding outstanding repair estimates and completed repairs that have not been picked up.
Electric Motor Sales Specialist:
- Assist customers with matching up replacement motors.
- Utilize vendor-provided cross-reference to identify suitable replacements.
- Review offerings from multiple vendors to determine the best match.
- Understand key motor parameters – Single phase vs Three phase, Voltage, Horsepower, Speed, Frame Size, and Mounting Configuration.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills - including the use of formulas.
- Internet research skills.
- Ability to read parts diagrams and mechanical drawings.
