Description
The Clinician in Training is an entry level Behavior Analyst or Trainee role that is designed to give the candidate a hands-on training experience by pairing them with an experienced BCBA who will serve as their mentor as they go through the CiT Training sequence. The CiT has a primary responsibility to accelerate client success through shared responsibilities with a mentor, and assignments delegated by the Director of BA Development and the CIT Manager. By sharing a caseload and pod, the mentor BCBA will serve as a model as the CIT learns all the responsibilities and tasks that they would need to complete as a Behavior Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
- Share a caseload with an experienced BA who serves as a mentor and coach
- Maintain appropriate time management and organization of tasks with support from mentor and Clinical Director
- Use BST to assist BA mentor and Team Lead (TL) with running training tools, integrity checks, and BICs for new hires and ongoing training within pod
- Apply and generalize feedback from Clinical Director, mentor, and training team regarding best clinical and professionalism practices
- Model effective therapy and positive team interactions
- Assist with writing progress reports, FBAs, BSPs, and treatment plans for clients on mentor caseload
- Assist with running consultations, assessments, Team Lead and pod meetings with mentor
- Attend and assist in running parent and SPOT meetings, and support any training needs within these areas
- Assist with creating and updating charts and slices for new and existing learners during shared consults with mentor
- Complete video training curriculum, as well as live individual and group training
- Demonstrate mastery and independent application of skills through met criteria of competencies and rubrics
Requirements
Basic & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry clients who are least 30 pounds
- Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Support Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, bending, for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk and run to chase clients and maintain a three-foot distance at all times
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, diapering, toileting, and dressing
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection and session documentation
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication though computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must be able to take written data and transfer to electronic files or data base systems
- Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk or on the floor
- Must be able to assemble, clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture
- Must be able to administer medication to clients
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrate high Bierman core values
- Must be in good standing with attendance
- Been employed at Bierman for at least 3 months
- In the process of finishing supervision (last 3-4 months), waiting to take the exam, or newly certified and applying for licensure
- RBT certified
- CPR and Safety Care certified
- Experience working with multiple clients in the behavior technician role
- Excellent rapport with children
- Excellent rapport with caregivers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, parents, and staff members
- Detail oriented
- Solution oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the team and clients
- Ability to act with integrity and demonstrate professionalism
