What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skilled Sanitation Technician (SST) position at Biery Cheese Company?
Essential Responsibilities:
- Have the ability to operate all of the equipment/machines on the line in the safest most efficient manner.
- Must be able to drive scissor lift and work in higher elevations.
- Must know how to scrub lines from front to back
- Must know the 7 steps of sanitation
- Must have knowledge of cleaning parts
- Must be able to run both washers in the parts room
- Must understand the process of foaming
- Must understand the process of sanitizing
- Must be able to trouble shoot lines when they do not start
- Must walk area and lines to assure that all electrical equipment has been covered with plastic
- Must have the ability to train other employees
- Munst know all parts on lines
- Must keep at least an 88% average over 3 months to stay as an ST-3
- Must know how to put down safety floor
- Must be able to start lines without help
- Must fill out quality paperwork before quality checks equipment
- Must fill out all checklists at end of day
- Must be able to CIP all circuits and know the hookups for the cook room
- Must be able to steam slicers and do so in a timely manner with or without help
- Must be able to clean all equipment in facility
- Must know how to clean the shred line
- Must be able to clean air units and cooling units
- Assist in supporting a safe and healthful work environment for all personnel through consistent support of the company’s Safety Process.
- Participate/support the SQF program and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions.
- Understanding of all plant GMP’s.
- Must be able to tear down interleavers and clean
- Be able to communicate to leadership and maintenance
- Able to clean slicers and know the processes
- Must be able to clean die cart
- Hold yourself and team members accountable.
- Makes verbal reports to Section Leader and provides spoken information about a problem or issue.
- Learn plant floor plan
- Fill-in for other personnel per production needs
- Additional duties and/or projects may be assigned

Physical/Mental Requirements

- Ability to work in multiple areas of the plant and may be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
- Will work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places.
