Forklift Operator
Biewer Sawmill – Newton, MS is looking to add a full-time Forklift Operator to our
team in Newton, MS. This position will operate a forklift in a safe and efficient
manner. Must be able to move lumber throughout the mill at a production level.
Must be willing to work overtime and some weekends may be required.
Night Shift - Monday-Friday, 5:30 pm-5:00 am
Accountabilities:
• Move green lumber packs from the outfeed of stacker to the CDK storage.
• Move green lumber packs from the outfeed of stacker to the CDK storage.
- Load/unload kilns with lumber required to meet production schedule.
- Safely move green lumber from the storage area to the line.
- Move rough dry lumber from the sheds to the planer infeed.
- Move finished lumber from the planer outfeed to the correct lumber sheds.
- Complete daily pre-shift inspection sheets.
- Safely check/fill all fluids to the proper mfg. recommended levels.
- Clean the forklift with the use of a high-pressure cleaner.
- Identify the different pack lumber sizes and lengths.
- Identify packs that are missing sticks and communicate to the stacker
operator/maintenance.
- Identify incorrectly tagged pack size dimensions, pack counts, and lengths
correctly.
- Clean the area surrounding the stacker and CDK storage area of fallen
wood.
- Load green lumber packs and steel plates on CDK lines.
- Pick up yard dunnage and store it correctly.
- Cover forklift areas and keep Forklifts clean.
Qualifications:
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Prior forklift experience.
- Forklift certified through Biewer.
- Climb and descend forklift stairs several times per day.
- Sit for 90 % of a 10-hour – 12-hour shift.
- Bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good Eye/ Hand Coordination for the operation of the Forklift.
