What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse HIV Coordinator position at Big Bend Cares?
GENERAL FUNCTION: The Substance Abuse Coordinator provides HIV testing, prevention for HIV-negative persons at increased risk for HIV infection, in the substance abuse facilities, community-level prevention, and linkage to prevention and essential support services. The position is responsible to Big Bend Cartes COO.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:- Conduct confidential HIV testing including pre and post-test counseling.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Health Educator.
- Link clients who have a positive HIV test result into medical care.
- Oversees/evaluates and ensures fidelity to all program requirements for the staff of the program.
- Oversees in conjunction with other agency staff the syringe exchange program, and staff as funding allows.
- Participate in community events.
- Completes Narcan report monthly.
- Provide safer sex and risk reduction education as well as PrEP screening.
- Document prevention grant activities and document as required.
- Complete monthly reports/logs and submit them to the Chief Operating Officer as required.
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop, implement, maintain, and update program activities.
- Attend required conferences and training.
- Participate in the local HIV Prevention Network as required.
- Effectively present, educate and facilitate information to diverse audiences.
- Own means of reliable transportation to travel between worksites or other locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in health education, social work or education and related experience in health, social or rehabilitative services. Experience in the above areas may substitute for degree.
Salary : $40,000 - $45,000
