Big Bend Hospice, Inc. (BBH) is seeking skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse candidates for the position of
Hospice In-Patient Unit Admissions RN.
In this hybrid role, this nurse will be tasked with providing education and clarity to patients, family members and caregivers who are considering enrolling in hospice services. Through this experience, our nurse will share details related to the support and care services that are available under hospice care, while also providing insight into the specialized services and support (both inpatient and home care) provided by the exceptional care team assembled by BBH. When not guiding patients and families though the admissions process, our nurse will provide exceptional and compassionate bedside care to patients who have been admitted to one of our state-of-the-art inpatient units for high acuity symptom and pain management, while also supporting the family and caregivers through this vulnerable time.
The primary work location for this position will be the First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care, located in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. In addition, as business needs dictate, this nurse may be assigned to work at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House located at our main campus off of Mahan Center Blvd, or on an as-needed basis in the field for home care of home bound admissions.
The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 3 PM to 11 PM and required rotating weekends (a day off during the week will be designated to offset weekend hours). The starting rate of pay for this position is $37 per hour, plus night and weekend shift differential. Shift differentials are as follows:
- Night Shift Differential:
- Monday - Thursday beginning at 7 PM = $4 per hour
- Weekend Shift Differential:
- Friday beginning at 7 PM = $1 per hour
- Weekend Night Shift Differential combines night & weekend differential beginning a 7PM Friday for a total $5 per hour shift differential from 7 PM to 11 PM for this position.

Requirements and Preferences

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Hospice and/or home health experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
- Current CPR certification.
- RNs working in Home Care, Admissions, or Triage departments must also be a licensed driver and possess an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements and is in good working order. Must maintain a clean driving record.
- Hospice and Palliative Care Certification preferred.
