Retail Store Associate
The Retail Store Associate is responsible for assisting the manager with day-to-day operations of the second-hand store. The individual will focus on sorting, pricing goods, stocking and preparing donated goods and other products for the sales floor.
Work Schedule: Part-Time; Two nights per week; Tuesday through Friday, 3:30pm - 6:30pm and 900am - 4:30pm every other Saturday
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
(Includes, but not limited to)
- Under the direction of store management, assists with general operations of store.
- Greet each co-worker, volunteer, donor and customer in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Assist customers in locating and/or selecting merchandise.
- Process customer sale transactions using cash register, bag merchandise, and thank the customer.
- Accurately conduct sales transactions and maintain cash and credit card control by following proper procedures regarding voids, refunds, checks, credit cards, etc.
- Maintain the sales floor and inventory in a clean, neat and properly displayed manner.
- Ensures consistent implementation of store policies including but not limited to the condition and type of inventory accepted; pricing strategies; consignment guidelines; return policy, etc.
- Understand and perform all procedures necessary to meet or exceed the weekly sales and production quota for the store.
- Provides superior customer service to customers, uses cash registers, and accepts donations.
- Provides donors with a receipt for merchandise, ensuring all applicable Federal and State tax regulations are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year experience working in a retail or second-hand store preferred.
- Knowledge of or a capacity to learn merchandising, customer relations, cash register operations
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make independent judgments.
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
- Transport donated goods to designated production area, sales floor, or warehouse.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
