POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Director, Programs is responsible for the strategic planning, development, execution, and evaluation of all BBBS Miami mentoring programs.  This role ensures the quality and impact of mentoring relationships, ensuring child safety, and achieving positive outcomes for youth, volunteers, and families.

The Senior Director, Programs directly supports programming, supervising and coaching Program Directors, monitoring program efficacy and compliance, and managing program relationships with key partners.

The Senior Director, Programs is expected to uphold the mission and values of Big Brothers, Big Sisters Miami, promoting a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and respect.

Key Relationships: 


The Senior Director, Programs reports directly to the VP, Programs.

 

Core Responsibilities:


The Senior Director, Programs will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

 

Strategic Leadership and Management:

·       Develop and implement strategic plans for the program department.

·       Ensure the alignment of program goals with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

 

·       Lead a team of program directors, managers, coordinators, and support staff, providing direction, training, and development opportunities.

·       Implement program focused Key Performance Indicators that will assist in monitoring program efficacy and compliance.

·       Create and revise policies and procedures governing key aspects of BBBS Miami’s Programs.

 

Program Development & Implementation:

·       Partner in the design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs to meet the changing needs of the youth, volunteers, families, and organization.

·       Ensure that all programs adhere to national BBBS standards, best practices, and local requirements.

 

Data Management

·       Lead all efforts to ensure compliance of documentation through all stages of programs lifecycle.

·       Manage data system/s ensuring all programming, grants, and funding measures are compliant and within protocols for proper reporting.

·       Analyze database for accuracy and necessary efficiency measures.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

·       Foster relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

·       Represent BBBS Miami in the community, at events, and in media appearances to promote the organization’s mission and programs.

 

Budget Management:

·       Partner in Developing and managing the programs department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.

·       Collaborate with the finance team and leadership to ensure alignment with the organization’s financial goals.

 

Child Safety:

·       Ensure that child safety guidelines are consistently applied and upheld across all programs.

·       Collaborate with the program team to address any incidents or concerns promptly.

 

Continuous Improvement:

·       Stay current with trends in youth development, mentoring, and non-profit management.

·       Recommend and implement best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance program delivery and impact.

 

Personal Qualities and Key Credentials: 

·       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, master’s degree in a related field preferred, but not necessary.

·       Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in program management or leadership, preferably in a non-profit setting.

·       Experience in program evaluation, data analysis, and impact measurement in a non-profit setting.

·       Proficient in data analysis software and tools.

·       A minimum of 5 years of experience in program management in a non-profit organization, preferably with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, or a similar organization.

·       Proven experience in team leadership and staff management.

·       Excellent project management skills.

·       Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and use it to make informed decisions.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Strong understanding of the non-profit sector and the specific needs of children and families in Miami.

·       Knowledge of youth development principles and practices.

·      Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole is not required but a plus.

·       Strong understanding of mentoring programs and youth development.

·       Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

·       Strong attention to detail and accuracy

·       Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

·       Proficiency in office software tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant applications.

·       Understanding of the nonprofit sector and familiarity with the mission of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Miami is a plus.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

·       Routine office environment with flexible work hours to meet the organization’s needs.

·       Must be able to drive and travel through Miami-Dade and Monroe County for events and meetings.

·       Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.

·       Must be able to move about the inside of the office.

·       Must be able to exchange accurate communication.

·       Must be able to operate office productivity machinery (i.e., computer, copier, etc.)

·       Must be able to lift office equipment up to 25 pounds.

 

Location:


This position is based in Miami, Florida, at BBBS of Miami’s headquarters at 550 NW 42nd Avenue Miami, FL 33126 with 5% of total work time traveling.

 

Compensation:

The Senior Director, Programs is a full-time exempt position.  This position is supervised by the Head of Programs.  The salary for this position is between $110,000 - $125,000 depending on experience.  BBBS of Miami positions involve regular computer use plus some minimal lifting.
