What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Marketing position at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward?
The Manager of Marketing will be a hands-on leader of the organization’s marketing department. The strategic leadership role is best suited for a dynamic, creative and driven marketing professional. This position reports to a Director of Development and works closely with the Manager of Events. The team works directly with the CEO to support the fundraising efforts and mission of BBBS Broward.
Responsibilities
- Strategic plan development and execution. Contributes to the creation and fulfillment of the short-term and long-term strategic plans.
- Campaign development and execution. Develop annual marketing plans and campaigns to grow brand awareness, outreach and exposure on social media, website, public relations and paid media, including updating and tracking KPIs to grow ROI. Campaigns should align with national brand guidelines.
- Design and production. Oversees creative design and production of all agency collaterals developed to brand BBBS Broward including but not limited to the annual strategic plan, event flyers, annual reports, social media posts, departments programs and services, donor stewardship materials as well as promotional and giveaway items.
- Social media management. Calendar to grow social engagement and exposure as well as paid advertising. This includes the Big Facebook Group to grow volunteer engagement and resource awareness.
- Public relations. Work with PR agency to review and draft press releases for media as well as develop an annual media pitch calendar for news coverage and interviews if applicable. May track publicity value monthly.
- Website. Manage design and updates on website including events calendar. Work with SEO company to add new content, improve search engine rank, to track and grow website visitors, increase engagement to reduce bounce rates.
- Develop standardized brand templates such as PowerPoint decks, email signatures, electronic invitations, head shots, events.
- Newsletter. Create and send out weekly newsletters to opt in subscribers. Develop strategy to capture more opt-ins to reach a wider audience. Monitor open and clicks to webpage rates to exceed national standards.
- Manage agency consultants. Actively manage consultants providing services (marketing, PR, graphic design, copywriting, videography, photographer and website SEO) including oversight of video and photo shoots.
- Reporting. Provide monthly reporting to track marketing reach and exposure as well as prepares compile quarterly audit reports.
- Coordinates effectively with development and event team members and leaders on initiatives and events.
- Maintains knowledge of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (national) marketing opportunities and incorporate into local plan, when applicable.
- Maintains a strong understanding of new and existing BBBS programs and community resources.
- Oversees and updates folders within OneDrive for improved efficiency and accessibility.
- Stays abreast of marketing trends.
- Procures promotional materials.
- Available to attend events and work evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as needed.
Education Level:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; Equivalency reviewed.
Work Experience:
- Three to five years of demonstrated success in managing the marketing responsibilities as outlined in the job description.
- Knowledge and experience with non-profit children services programs a plus.
- Personal or professional experience with non-profit organizations as an employee, volunteer or consultant.
- Managed marketing and teamed with consultants on projects as needed.
- Teamed with development and events staff members to execute events and the strategic plan.

- Relationship Building: Skilled in cultivating and managing relationships.
- Presentation skills to effectively promote the agency mission and vision, both internally and externally.
- Ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and share information about marketing campaigns.
- Ability to budget and report on financials relating to marketing.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and effectively manage workflow to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter demonstrating the ability to use time effectively, work independently, focus on deliverables and priorities.
- Ability to utilize relevant programs to include Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design software.
- Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office: Sharepoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel. Also proficient with databases (Matchforce/Salesforce), etc.
- Discretion to handle confidential information.
- Ability to travel routinely for position.
Minimal physical requirements to include walking, standing, occasional lifting, sitting at workstation and supporting community activities and events.
Employment requires passing a thorough background screening, finger printing and reference check. Reliable transportation is required, including proof of insurance and a clean driving record.
