Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California (BBBSCC) is a nationally recognized, award-winning agency dedicated to igniting the potential in young people by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships. Serving Madera, Fresno, Tulare, and Kings counties. Position Summary:
The Development Director is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support and expand BBBSCC’s programs. This role oversees donor relations, grant writing, corporate partnerships, event planning, and overall fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for youth development and a proven track record of securing funding in the nonprofit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Development
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
- Manage donor stewardship activities, ensuring consistent engagement and recognition.
- Expand the major gifts program through research, cultivation, and solicitation of high-net-worth individuals.
- Develop and oversee an effective planned giving program.
Grants & Corporate Partnerships
- Research and identify grant opportunities; write and manage grant proposals and reports.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors, securing sponsorships for events and initiatives.
- Oversee compliance and reporting for all secured funding.
Special Events & Campaigns
- Plan, execute, and evaluate major fundraising events, such as Bowl for Kids’ Sake, 300 Club, and other community-driven initiatives.
- Lead annual giving campaigns, including direct mail and digital fundraising strategies.
- Partner with marketing to develop compelling fundraising materials and donor communications.
Leadership & Strategy
- Work closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and Development Committee to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Provide leadership in financial forecasting related to fundraising efforts.
- Maintain donor databases, tracking engagement and impact metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, related field OR 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or donor relations.
- Proven success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in grant writing.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with donors, sponsors, and community leaders.
- Knowledge of donor management systems (e.g., Aplos & GiveSmart) is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for events.
Compensation:
- Compensation salary ranging from $72,800 – 83,200 annually.
- Mileage for use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel will be reimbursed at the current federal rate.
- Cell phone stipend for use of personal phone to conduct business calls, text, and email.
