Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania's mission is to provide support for one to one mentoring relationships for youth ages 6-18 that ignite the power and promise of youth. Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEPA covers 17 counties in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania.
This position would cover Monroe and Carbon Counties and will start off remote with some site-work.
One in three young people in our country will grow up without a mentor. Today, in our community there are 130 youth who could benefit from having a mentor. This agency offers both school and community-based mentoring services as well as specialized services to increase confidence, educational pursuits, and aspirations while helping kids learn to avoid risky behaviors.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to: recruiting, outreach, screening, and training potential volunteers, provide training to clients on child safety, assessing client and volunteer eligibility, coordinating group activities for program participants, providing ongoing supervision to matches through telephone and in-person contacts, conducting closure interviews with clients and volunteers, and preparing documentation as required by program policy and procedure manual.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or human services discipline.
- Valid PA Driver’s License and willingness to drive
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, Google Drive
- Willingness to be trained in BBBS of America's Online Platform
- Be available to work 2 evenings/week
- Childline, PA State Police, and FBI background checks completed by employer prior to beginning employment
