POSITION PURPOSE
The primary function of this position is to lead the MentorU program at a partner high school(s). This position will introduce students in a cohort classroom to adult mentors and provide on-going support with the goal of promoting school success and college/career readiness. The MentorU Program Coordinator will deliver an innovative curriculum to the cohort class; communicate regularly in person and via technology with students, mentors and school personnel; work with corporate and community partners to ensure that youth in the cohort classroom are appropriately matched; and execute a high degree of independent judgment while utilizing BBBS standards and practices.
The MentorU Program Coordinator will also participate in recruitment, interviewing and training of volunteers and students. Using a high degree of customer service, the coordinator will ensure successful and ongoing relationships by maintaining contact with matched pairs throughout the cohort’s progression through high school, focusing on impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between youth and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers and school personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and facilitate weekly MentorU classes for mentees at partner high school(s), including discussion of weekly curriculum.
- Organize and staff multiple large-scale and multi-faceted events for match participants (i.e. career workshops, educational/cultural opportunities) overseeing all logistics, content and budgets.
- Work closely with the Recruitment Team to identify sources of mentors to ensure each student in the class is matched. Work recruitment events such as presentations, tabling, and other events during peak recruitment times.
- Develop and maintain relationships between school staff/administration, designated corporate partners, and BBBSM, including regular communication and problem solving.
- Communicate with matches and monitor messages between matches on the secure messaging platform. Update the platform as needed to provide resources and information to matches
- Develop and make presentations about the MentorU program to corporate and community partners.
- Collect and maintain data on students in our information management system, including demographic information, school attendance, disciplinary issues, grades and other outcomes.
- Maintain a high degree of detail in other documentation, both electronic and paper, on clients and volunteers in accordance with Quality Assurance guidelines and Confidentiality protocol.
- Review all enrollment information and assessments and make recommendations for participation in the program based on this information. Assess and apply factors contributing to successful match.
- Effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with the appropriate mentoring program. Consult with other service delivery staff and/or supervisors as appropriate.
- Determine matches and introduce students to mentors.
- Continually assess the match relationships focusing on: youth safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction. Ensure real and/or potential problems and barriers are identified, addressed, and resolved as early as possible. Match support is provided on a frequency according to BBBS Standards of Practice, at a minimum.
- Assess and provide for individual training needs, information, and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the student and a successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.
- Promote attendance at the MentorU cohort’s match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the youth and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.
- Effectively utilize the Youth Outcomes Survey (YOS) to assess match impact on youth development.
- Identify current/possible problems and address and resolve them as early as possible. Develop interventions for matches that may require individual training needs and support and/or in-person meetings. In the result of a match termination, evaluate reasons for match closure to assess re-match potential.
- Promote and maintain collaborative working relationships with other community organizations and corporate partners to promote philanthropy, volunteerism, and agency visibility, focusing on recruitment of volunteers.
- Coordinate and share with development, marketing or other appropriate staff, potential partnership relationships and resources as discovered through volunteers’ and parents’ employers and affiliations, as well as own connections in the community.
- Participate in trainings and/or continuing education on relevant material for professional development.
- Support, and collaborate with other departments, including program, development, and Mission Support, along with the agency’s JEDI efforts, to accomplish organization goals.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or within the Program Department.

EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
Education Level: High school diploma/GED equivalent and one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in education, social services, sales, communication, child development or other related field preferred or within six months of degree completion;
- Associate’s degree plus two years of relevant work experience in education, social services, sales, communication, child development or other related field; or
- Four years of relevant work in education, social services, sales, communication, child development or other related field
Related Work Experience: Assessment and relationship development experience with youth and adult populations; understanding of youth development and family dynamics. Experience working with high school age students extremely helpful.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
80% of the time will be spent on travel to local schools, communities and neighborhoods within in the service area. Must have a car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums; Hybrid office environment with 1-2 days in office required; Flexible work hours to meet customer and agency needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
