Job Summary
This is a full-time day shift position with benefits, focusing on structural design using CAD software.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance for all products offered by Big C Lumber
- Promote a positive image of the Drafting & Structural Design Department
- Use design tools and software applications to create structural framing layouts for floor, roof, and wall systems
- Perform design calculations for individual structural members (EWP, Dimensional Lumber, Steel, Timber Beams, Columns, etc.)
- Assist with required Engineered Wood Product Repairs
- Maintain the department's intranet website
- Consult with Big C's in-house design service
- Manage and track services provided by the department using Microsoft tools
- Complete special assignments or projects as required by the Operations Manager
- Ensure asset preservation and adherence to safety regulations, fire procedures, and anti-theft policies
Requirements
- Experience in basic design or construction framing practices
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Knowledge of roof truss design and application
- General knowledge of the International Residential Code (IRC)
- Able to adapt to in-house software
