Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Big Canyon Country Club is seeking a career driven highly motivated Assistant Superintendent to join our Golf Course Maintenance department. The selected candidate will join the team in time to contribute to a complete golf course renovation. The new golf course is being designed by renowned architect Andrew Green. The project will include a state-of-the-art Toro irrigation system installation, enhanced drainage system, re-routing of a portion of the golf course, and redesign of all 18 holes and practice facilities. This is a rare opportunity for a qualified candidate who is eager to advance their career by gaining valuable industry experience in leadership, construction, golf course grow-in, and golf course management.
Duties & Expectations
- Assisting the Director of Agronomy in all aspects of golf course maintenance and operations.
- Supervising and directing the work of maintenance staff.
- Planning and implementing daily work schedules and projects.
- Monitoring and managing irrigation systems.
- Implementing fertilization and pest control programs under the direction of the Superintendent.
- Maintaining course turfgrass health and playing conditions.
- Assisting with budget management and record-keeping.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Participating in the planning and execution of course improvement projects.
- Communicating effectively with the Director of Agronomy, staff, and other departments.
- Contributing to the efforts of a highly successful complete golf course renovation.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in golf course maintenance, with progressive experience leading to an Assistant Superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation principles, fertilization, and pest management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course equipment.
