What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant position at Big Country Veterinary Clinic?
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting veterinarians in providing care to animals
- Handling and restraining animals during examinations and procedures
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Preparing and maintaining examination rooms and surgical areas
- Cleaning and sterilizing equipment and instruments
- Monitoring the health and well-being of animals in the clinic or hospital
- Assisting with diagnostic tests, such as blood work and x-rays
- Providing basic grooming services, nail trimming
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
- Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Physical stamina to handle animals of various sizes and lift heavy objects if necessary
- Compassion for animals and their well-being
