Legal Assistant I
Big Fire Law & Policy Group LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Winnebago, NE office. The work requires professionalism, initiative, accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and benefits. Regular working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Duties:
- Answer the telephone and route call as appropriate.
- Greet and assist visitors.
- Retrieve, sort and disburse daily mail and respond to mail, as directed.
- Book and coordinate travel arrangements.
- Communicate orally and in writing with third parties via telephone, email, letter and in person.
- Assist with filing hard copy and electronic files in coordination with paralegals and/or attorneys.
- Organize and maintain file room and library, including scanning and shredding items as directed.
- Assist with binder production and large copy projects.
- Order and maintain office supplies.
- Interact with vendors, building a positive working relationship.
- Proof, format, and send letters or other correspondence, as needed.
- Maintain an organized and professional office environment, including light cleaning when necessary.
- Assist with CLE registrations and recordkeeping for attorneys, as directed.
- Assist with maintaining accurate office calendars.
- Ensure conference room is properly set up for meetings.
- Assist with minor software and office equipment needs.
- Prepare expense reports, as directed.
- Maintain an organized storage room.
- Assemble and assist with print material, swag items, and booth setup for conference or other event attendance.
- Other related office duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two years’ office experience, preferably in the legal field.
- Experience in Microsoft products, faxing, copying, organizing documents and files.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team toward common goal of excellent client service.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Prior legal experience.
- General knowledge of legal terminology.
