This is a 24-36hr/week position with some Friday's off!
Full Time - Monday - Friday
Part Time - Tuesday - Thursday
This is a customer service oriented position. The Front Desk Coordinator represents the practice as the initial interaction a patient has when they come to our office. The Front Desk Coordinator provides excellent customer service in all patient interactions, which may include, but is not limited to; greeting and checking in patients, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records and coordinating patient flow.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty as listed below.
Essential Duties:
· Greet visitors and patients entering the practice and alerts appropriate staff of patient arrivals.
· Prepares the reception area in the morning by unlocking doors, turns on monitors, ensures that coffee supplies are stocked and remain stocked throughout day.
· Responsible for maintaining /ordering coffee bar supplies.
· Keeps the front desk and reception areas clean. Organizes magazines and other materials to keep current and neat. Waters the plants.
· Establishes, maintains and keeps patient files and records up to date (i.e. address, phone number, email, insurance information, etc) and insures that all required documents are completed by the patient.
· Assists in insurance verification, and works directly with Financial Administrator and the Financial Coordinator to keep patient insurance information current and accurate.
· Manages outgoing and incoming mail daily.
· Assists in directing flow in the front area, assisting patients and parents with getting from the clinic to check out.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
· Ability to display empathy and offer assistance for patient families with special needs and/or language barriers.
· Skilled in the use of standard office equipment including: telephones, calculators, copiers, fax, cameras, computers, and computer software (Dentrix, Microsoft Word, and Excel)
· Ability to be flexible when needed to assist with other duties when called upon.
· Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when exposed to stressful situations.
· Ability to engender trust from doctors, co-workers, and patients.
· Ability to work cooperatively with management, staff and patients.
· Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner.
· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and maintain confidentiality.
· Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas competently.
· Ability to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities.
Education/Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferable pediatric dental experience
· Foreign language experience preferred (sign language or Spanish speaking)
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
· May be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
· Active movement throughout the day: sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, stooping, and reaching. May also be required to sit alertly for long periods of time.
· Vision: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· Hearing: able to satisfactorily communicate with patients, doctor, and other staff members to ensure that verbal communication is clearly understood, or a satisfactorily-equivalent method of communication.
· Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipment.
· Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation.
Additional or different duties may be assigned occasionally at employer’s discretion

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
