We tie all our activities to academic learning, enriching the education of youth outside of school.
We are committed to providing positive high-quality after-school experiences that help young people develop skills and confidence that will help them find success in school and in life. Such experiences are particularly important for students who have not found success on the traditional path of text-based classroom education.
Volunteer Position Description
- Maintain a positive attitude and assist in ensuring the classroom environment is conducive to student learning.
- Assist administration in specialized areas of expertise.
- Provide main office assistance by answering phones, filing (non-confidential), classroom deliveries, and answering questions.
- Assist teachers as classroom helpers with the preparation of classroom materials,
- tutoring of individual students
- cleaning classrooms,
- facilitating celebrations
- reading to and with individual students and groups of students
- creating and putting up bulletin boards
- facilitation of classroom projects, and applying appropriate conflict management skills with students.
- Performs other voluntary jobs as identified by the after-school program.
Volunteer – As a volunteer, I do not receive any form of payment or compensation such
as money, free or reduced child care, or any other type of compensation for my time. I also understand that as a volunteer, I must be under the constant supervision of a trained and screened staff person and may not be left alone or in charge of any group of children. If I volunteer 10 hours or more per month or receive some form of compensation, I understand that I must submit background screening information under section 402.302(3), Florida Statutes, and complete the state-mandated training requirements.
