Job Summary : Under the direction of district administrators, the Classroom Teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans to present district curriculum in assigned instructional subjects; instructing students using lesson plans and instructional material; and evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional outcomes and objectives. Teachers also participate and collaborate with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel concerning student needs, issues and district learning initiatives.

Uses metacognitive strategies by utilizing self- and peer-assessment

Develops, communicates, and engages students in understanding success criteria for lesson-sized learning targets, formative assessments and summative assessments

Plans and Delivers Effective Instruction

Applies understanding of learner variability to inform the development of instructional planning

Accesses and utilizes curricular resources and materials aligned to the essential learning outcomes (ELOs) and lesson-sized learning targets for units of instruction

Demonstrates the effective use of instructional planning components : Launch, Explore, Summarize

Reflects on instruction (demonstrated use of metacognitive practices)

Consistently employs teacher as facilitator strategies and promotes student agency

Qualifications : Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education K-5 Licensure. Certified teaching certificate from the State of MN in the required subject area. Candidates with a background in STEM and PBIS are preferred.
