What are the responsibilities and job description for the eCommerce Content Developer position at Big Lots?
Responsible for the development of online marketing content within the content management systems for responsive web sites, applications, and marketing page layouts. Collaborates with design, product, and marketing teams to execute, test, and deploy quality interactions and page layouts of varying complexity. Supports Senior and Lead Developers, as needed.
1. Develops marketing content within the content management systems (marketing landing pages, micro-sites, emails, animations, etc.).
2. Develops UI for new and enhanced functionality on our ecommerce platform.
3. Develops Responsive Marketing Emails and unit tests with various cross-platform email clients.
4. Develops HTML, CSS, and Javascript for Big Lots’ ecommerce website and other digital properties, as needed.
5. Assists in creation of site marketing wireframes. Works with merchandisers and content team to meet weekly goals.
6. Works with creative design team and traffic specialist to facilitate weekly project workflow.
7. Assists team with weekly APR and coupon enhancements within the content management systems.
8. Conducts quality assurance (QA) on planned site marketing including asset campaign tagging, ADA compliance, link testing, image accuracy, text accuracy, pricing and promotion functionality, and business review preparation.
9. Assists in implementation of test plans to optimize site real estate, improve content, and gain insights into customer behavior to increase click-through rate, conversion, revenue generation, and other Key Performance Indicators.
10. Partners with Analytics team to gather data and provide analysis regarding site marketing content.
Qualification
1. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in web development, marketing, design, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. One to three years of experience in developing content and interfaces with an in-house, corporate, agency or similar interactive/digital design/development team required.
3. Experience with development languages (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) required.
4. Excellent written and interpersonal communications, including working cross-functionally and clearly communicating and presenting work amongst peers preferred.
5. Experience with CMS tools required.
6. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite required.
7. Skill in site navigation, KPIs, conversion opportunities, Oracle/ATG platform, and Adobe Launch preferred.
8. Experience with Agile methodologies preferred.
9. Experience with versioning tools such as Git preferred.
