Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for passengers, including children and individuals with special needs. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of behavior management, and the ability to operate various types of buses, including Paratransit vehicles. Bilingual candidates who can communicate effectively in both Spanish and English are highly encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Safely operate a bus on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues as necessary.
- Manage passenger behavior effectively, utilizing behavior management techniques when needed.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.
- Maintain accurate records of daily routes, passenger counts, and incidents as required.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members regarding any issues or delays.
- Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with passengers and their families.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus operation.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred for effective communication with diverse passenger groups.
- Experience in childcare or working with children is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to identify basic vehicle issues and perform minor repairs if necessary.
- Ability to write clear reports and maintain accurate records related to driving activities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with passengers of all ages and backgrounds.
- Previous experience in commercial driving or Paratransit services is highly desirable.
