What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer for Mens Apparel - Headquarters position at Big R Stores?
Big R is looking for a candidate who will buy and manage a subset of brands in the men’s workwear, western, outdoor and lifestyle apparel space.
- $80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary (wage based on experience)
- This is not a remote position; all work is done from Big R’s home office in Pueblo, CO
Responsibilities:
- Purchase and manage a variety of men’s products and brands for Big R’s 37 locations
- Oversee order placement and tracking to ensure timely receipt of merchandise
- Identify opportunities and risks in season through analyzing sales performance
- Ability to calculate gross margin, turn and OTB
- Review sales results to strategize markdowns and manage aged inventory
- Lead and support buying assistant
- Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors on pricing, RA’s, terms, and discounts
- Ability to forecast market trends and perform consumer research
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Build and maintain vendor relationships
- Report to Purchasing Manager daily
- Overnight travel 30 nights annually
- Other responsibilities as called upon
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or 3 years buyer, retail management, or category experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and problem solve
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and good judgement
- Detail oriented and self-motivated
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a team player
- Domestic travel as needed
