General Function
Under the direction of the Pool Board, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the swimming pool. The primary function of the pool manager will be to safeguard the health and safety of pool patrons by supervising the lifeguarding staff and maintaining proper pool maintenance. The Pool Manager is expected to hold the lifeguarding staff accountable for observing the pool, ensuring the safety of pool patrons and upholding the pool rules while on stand, as well as performing maintenance and housekeeping tasks while not on stand.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education
· American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.
· Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certifications are highly desirable.
Experience
· 3-5 years of experience as lifeguard, experience in supervisory position strongly preferred.
· Customer service experience is desirable.
Working Conditions
· Exposure to pool chemicals (skin and eye irritants)
· Hot & humid working environment (mostly outdoors)
· Exposure to direct sunlight
Physical Abilities
· Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
· Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally

Job Responsibilities
· Trains lifeguards on job duties and responsibilities (lifeguards will already hold certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED and First Aid).
· Performs administrative duties associated with management of lifeguard staff, including updating Lifeguard Handbook as needed, monitoring staff certifications, and managing lifeguard schedule.
· Periodically observes lifeguards on stand to verify proper attention is being given to all areas of the pool.
· Monitors the completion of tasks such as emptying trash cans, restocking restrooms, and maintaining clean and orderly pool deck (picking up trash and straightening furniture).
· Vacuums the pool on a weekly basis (can be delegated to lifeguard as needed).
· Refills chlorine and acid barrels as required (once or twice a week), including retrieving chemical order from store or receiving delivery at pool.
· Monitors the inventory of concessions and other regularly stocked items (trash bags, toilet paper, etc) and notifies pool board of needs on a regular schedule.
· Notifies the pool board of any repairs, adjustments, or replacements needed to the pool and pool equipment. May perform repairs as qualified.
· Interprets and enforces pool rules, settles disputes, and communicates rules and/or disciplinary actions to patrons.
· Responsible for implementation of emergency procedures, including emergency response, incident reporting, and closing of the pool for sanitary reasons.
Compensation and Schedule
· The pool season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but the winning candidate for the Pool Manager position can expect to begin in early April to begin staffing and training.
· The Pool Manager is not expected to be at the pool every day but is expected to be at the pool multiple times throughout the week and especially during busy periods (weekends and events).
· The Pool Manager is expected to work 25 hours a week, occasionally up to 30 hours during weeks with special events. This position has a flexible schedule that can work around another job, class schedule, or other time commitments. The Pool Manager is responsible for creating their own schedule reflecting the expected hours of work for each pay period. Work schedules for the pool manager and lifeguards will be sent to the Pool Board monthly or bi-monthly.
· The Pool Manager is expected to be present at all special events, which typically consist of the Season Opening Party (Memorial Day), July 4th, End of Season Party (Labor Day), and occasional night swims/movie nights.
