We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Trimmer Operator to join our sawmill team for the second shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining trimming equipment to ensure wood products meet quality specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate trimmer equipment to trim and cut lumber to required specifications.
- Inspect and monitor the trimming process to ensure quality and accuracy of finished products.
- Adjust trimmer machines for different sizes and specifications of wood products.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trimmer equipment and report any issues.
- Monitor the flow of material and ensure smooth operation throughout the trimming process.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met.
- Document production details, including machine settings and production outputs.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the trimming process and report major equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a noisy environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team setting.
- Willingness to work second shift (4:00 PM to 12:30 AM) and occasional overtime if needed.
