This position is an experienced Industrial Mechanic/Mechanical Engineer responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in the Coated Products area of the Big River Steel facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environments. Scheduled work hours are day shift Monday through Friday, however additional hours in a week will most likely be required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others-CP Mechanical Shift Technicians assigned to Process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are followed and a Priority.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in job areas and grounds.
- Inspect and Examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and repair complex mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate Maintenance activities to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance and repair all Mechanical Systems of assigned process.
- Direct Activities to install or modify assigned process mechanical equipment following proper codes, manuals, schematics diagrams, and or relevant specifications.
- Work directly with all Electrical and Operations Personnel in a fast-paced Environment to help develop a safety focused and productive process team. Support CP Mechanical Shift Technicians to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.
- Provide support to the Coated Products Mechanical and Reliability Supervisor in facilitating a seamless working relationship between all members of the Finishing Mill Team.
- Assist with the development of a work safety program, PM system, personnel training program, and equipment spares list for the process group.
- Demonstrated focus on safety and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment.
- Quality and Detail oriented individual with a strong Technical Background and Analytical Problem Solving skills.
- Reliable Team Player with good Communication Skills.
- Highly Motivated, Self-Directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge and efficient in the use of the proper rigging equipment, including critical lifts.
- Experienced with mobile equipment (Rough Terrain, Man Lift, Fork Lift, Carry Deck or Broaderson)
- Efficient in the Metric Measuring System is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in an Industrial Environment, preferably in the Steel Industry.
- Experience with reading mechanical blueprints, working with Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Power Transmission Systems.
- Basic computer skills required; use of Microsoft office is a plus.
- HS diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or technical certificates in related field is preferred.
