What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Electrical Maintenance Specialist position at Big River Steel LLC?
This position is an industrial electrician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in the hot mill area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motors.
- Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment.
- Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to develop a safety focused and productive HM team.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment, quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem solving skills, adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge.
In addition, the successful candidate will be a reliable team player with good communication skills, highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed. Minimum 5 years of work experience as an industrial electrician, previous experience with NFPA 70E practices, familiar with common electrical tools and measuring instruments, and experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics are required.
A strong working knowledge of 480 volt 3 phase electrical distribution systems and motor control, basic PLC programming experience (Siemens preferred), and HS diploma or equivalent and electrical degree or training are also necessary.
Working Conditions:
The environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment.
