Job Description:
The Industrial Electrician - Coated Products will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical equipment in the Coated Products area of Big River Steel facility. This includes control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, PLC, HMI, transmitters, sensors, and burners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversight of safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and regulatory requirements.
2. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.
3. Participate in the tuning of furnace burners and verification of instrument calibration.
4. Perform root cause analysis using process data.
5. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
6. Install or modify electrical equipment according to specifications.
7. Collaborate with mechanics and operations personnel to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated safety focus and proactive approach.
2. Quality-oriented with strong technical and analytical skills.
3. Adaptability to changing job duties and eagerness to learn new knowledge.
4. Reliable team player with good communication skills.
5. Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed.
6. Proficient in using measuring instruments and IBA Analyzer.
7. Basic computer skills in MS Excel and Word.
8. Ability to learn new technology and share knowledge with teammates.
9. Knowledgeable in programming and troubleshooting logic, including ladder logic and function block programming.
10. Familiarity with PID controllers, PLC programming, and troubleshooting skills.
11. Willingness to take on multiple roles and continually improve primary skill set.
12. High school diploma or equivalent required; electrical degree or training preferred.

This position involves working in a steel mill production area with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy conditions. Physically demanding work is required.
