Position Summary: Under the supervision of the ECE Assistant Director, the Teacher I will provide support to all levels of staff for the BSR ECE Department’s Early Head Start Program including but not limited to the following: assist with the supervision of children, preparing materials for learning activities, participate and guide children in learning activities, safe and sanitary environment for children and work with parents in planning children’s needs. Teacher I will work in assisting the programs of the Department with providing the needs of the families and children served under the funding requirements and compliance provided by the funding sources of the Department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

JOB POSITION REQUIRES:
Obtain within four (4) months of hire, or possess, current Infant Toddler Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or current California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit; or an associate degree in early childhood (EDE) or Child Development and 3 units in Infant/Toddler course. Must continue taking ECE or CD Classes, or bachelor’s degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent coursework (12 units of ECE/CD classes). First Aid, CPR, and California Food Handlers’ certifications obtained within six (6) months of hire. High School Diploma, GED or CHSPE required. Experience with Native Communities is preferred. Shall possess and maintain a valid California Class C drivers’ license, and qualify for employer insurability, throughout the course of employment. Must successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, pre-employment health screening and TB clearance, and background investigation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Travel may be required.
