Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1. Teaches district-approved curriculum.
2. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
6. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
7. Diagnoses the learning styles of students.
8. Evaluates student?s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
9. Assists in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Student Growth and Development
10. Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsors outside activities approved by campus principal.
11. Acts as a positive role model for students; supports mission of school district.
Communication
12. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
13. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
14. Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Other
15. Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
16. Keeps informed of and complies with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers.
17. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required.
18. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
19. Performs other assigned duties as may be required by Supervisor.
