SUMMARY
The Service Technician 3 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform advanced service repair, fabrication, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting of 12 volt wiring systems.
- Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Scheduler.
- Inspect, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
- Advanced welding/fabrication work including replacing and repair worn and defective parts. Layout, fits, drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts and accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, and accessories. Installs wood or metal flooring.
- Perform Guest for Service Intake sheet multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
- Confer in person and by phone or electronically with customers, write and read work orders. Utilize Service BiddingTool to list parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, anddiagrams. Must have the ability to quote service work.
- Sell parts and service.
- Help customers hook up trailers. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
- Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
- Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
- Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
- Assist with parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts & supplies, receiving POs, & cycle counts.
- Inform location General Manager of any maintenance needs of company power equipment including tractor(s),forklift(s), etc.
- Clean & organize service shop & support areas as directed.
- Support opening & closing the facility as directed
- Mentor Service Technician 1 & 2
- Other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
- 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
- Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed
