Job Summary
The primary function of this position is to support and maintain the instrumentation and electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. They are responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of refinery process control, instrumentation and electrical systems. This includes various equipment such as: transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, remove, calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair refinery instrumentation equipment and components
- Prepare and maintain appropriate equipment and repair documentation
- Test, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers
- Test and maintain electrical and instrument safety systems
- Interpret and work from process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various systems
- Assist in training and development of other employees

Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED).
- Previous experience with electrical or instrumentation in an oil refinery, chemical process plant, electric utility or electrical distribution equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate in, on, and around piping at both grade level and above grade elevations
- Ability to navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas.
- This position on occasion requires the ability to enter confined spaces through 24" diameter man ways.
- Position requires the physical ability to utilize air purifying respirators and SCBA's.
- Ability to work in all kinds of weather to include hot and cold
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, etc.
