As a Turnaround Planner for Big West Oil, your primary responsibility will be to support the successful planning and execution of refinery turnaround activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing detailed work packages, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring all resources are aligned for a safe and efficient turnaround.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive work plans, schedules, and cost estimates for refinery turnaround activities, and coordinate communication interdepartmentally on those events.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to define scope and resource requirements such as permits, material, and equipment required.
- Utilize planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP, or similar) to create and manage turnaround schedules.
- Work closely with contractors and vendors to ensure alignment with turnaround goals.
- Support post-turnaround evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze maintenance repair specifications to determine tools, parts, and manpower requirements. Identify and mitigate potential risks and constraints to ensure a smooth execution phase.
- Assist with bi-annual turnaround planning, such as tracking progress, maintaining the budget, and the schedule.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure KPIs tracked by CMMS are met.
- Perform equipment reliability analysis and recommend improvements based on Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings.
- Aspire to grow into an understanding of equipment reliability improvements through analysis of equipment trends, and historical and field data to identify performance drivers.
- Update proprietary CMMS with data regarding labor hours, parts usage, and contractor repair costs.
- Responsible for organizing the maintenance warehouse and receiving area, monitoring critical inventory and ordering inventory according to lead times.
- Create purchase orders for approval by management, based on quotes received from vendors, receive and match invoices, documenting any discrepancies.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of turnaround planning experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility, with additional industrial or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations, maintenance, and mechanical work processes within refinery operations.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, SAP, or other CMMS/EAM systems, as well as experience with contractor management and procurement processes.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CPSM, PMP, or API Turnaround Planning.
- Strong analysis, cleansing/scrubbing, and organizing data skills.
- Must be able to read, understand, and apply technical information from manuals, books, drawings, and diagrams.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite Excel, Word, and Project.
- Gantt Chart experience is a plus!
