Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production floor, ensuring products are produced in accordance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role involves managing a team, ensuring effective communication, maintaining production schedules, and continuously seeking ways to improve productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead production staff, including training, performance management, and development. Ensure team members adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
- Training: Properly train/cross-train employees
- Production Planning: Collaborate with the production manager to develop production schedules and set targets. Allocate resources, materials, and personnel effectively to meet production goals.
- Quality Control: Monitor product quality to ensure that it meets company standards and regulatory requirements. Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Workflow Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement to increase productivity and reduce waste. Implement changes to streamline operations while maintaining quality standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all employees follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Promote a safe working environment, conduct regular safety checks, and address potential hazards.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Address and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, or production delays. Troubleshoot and implement solutions to keep production running smoothly.
- Inventory Management: Ensure materials and supplies are available for production, working with inventory and supply chain teams to manage stock levels effectively.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs and reports. Track performance metrics such as production output, downtime, and quality levels, and report to management regularly.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Encourage a culture of innovation and efficiency on the production floor.
- Coordination with Other Departments: Work closely with other departments (e.g., maintenance, quality control, logistics) to ensure smooth workflow across the production process.
Qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
