What are the responsibilities and job description for the PERColator/ Trainer position at Biggby Coffee?
Description : A position responsible for training new hires and providing ongoing coaching and training to help develop the staff, and prepare them for new products and procedures, with the additional day-to-day responsibilities of a Shift Leader. The PERColator must hold himself to the highest standard—he sets the example that other staff members will look to.
Direct Supervisor : Owner / Operator or Manager
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Conduct New Staff Orientation
- Conduct in-store training according to the New Barista Training Program.
- See that new hires complete all of their paperwork correctly and completely.
- Conduct the NBT classes when new employees are hired.
- Grade trainees' quizzes and tests, storing them in the trainees' file after they have completed training.
- Shadow new staff members during their first two shifts (practical shifts).
- Assist the Manager in the hiring process by conducting the preliminary screen portion of the interview.
- Help develop the staff through coaching and training.
- Be a strong procedural watchdog within the store—ensuring that procedures are being followed at all times, and that PERC is the focus.
- Ensure that all staff members can recite PERC and the Position Priorities word-for-word from memory.
- Monitor and manage the attitude and energy of the employees—if they're having fun, the customers will too!
- Prepare staff for Rollouts—post the Study Guide and B In The Know documents, assign any videos that need to be watched, post any new recipes, and distribute and grade quizzes.
- Maintain close communication with the Manager or Owner / Operator regarding the progress of trainees and the ongoing development of staff. Evaluation scores are a helpful way to measure this progress.
- Perform the day-to-day duties of a Shift Leader.
Qualifications : Should be a full-time employee who is passionate about procedures, energetic, and upbeat, with a desire to learn. Must complete the New Barista and the PERColator training programs.
