Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 4 days a week, Tuesday thru Friday 8:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. One hour unpaid lunch 12-1.
Summary
A supportive role that performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the office and physicians running smoothly. The MA conducts basic pre-visit duties in order to optimize the patients time with each provider on staff. The medical assistant role will involve rooming patients for the provider, taking and recording vital signs, verify purpose of visit, and then to prepare all necessary forms and items needed for the visit.
Essential Functions

1. Past experience within a similar role is a requirement
2. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
3. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
4. Assists Doctors during patient examinations
5. Explaining treatment procedures to patients either in person, by phone, or by email.
6. Assists in the retrieval of medical records for staff and physicians.
7. Taking electrocardiograms
8. Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician
9. Contacting patients to clarify orders, relay physician directions, provide test results ect.
10. Maintaining the confidentiality of patient records and patient information.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a multi-employee professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The role has a moderate level of activity. You will be required to move efficiently throughout patient rooms and within the office setting. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience within a similar role is a requirement
High School Diploma or greater
Athena health EMR experience a plus but not required
Bilingual a plus but not required
