Lifehouse Nantucket has an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager for the Summer of 2025. We seek an experienced leader who appreciates Nantucket's seasonality and is prepared to manage all aspects of hotel operations.
Our 15-room boutique hotel in the heart of town has become a destination for guests traveling to the island who desire an upscale setting, bespoke service, and all the charm and amenities Nantucket offers at their fingertips.
This seasonal position begins in April and sees the entire season through until an October closing. Candidates with island experience are preferred. Housing is available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Immerse yourself in the community, create strong business ties with community leaders, and develop programs for the property to leverage these relationships.
- Conduct routine inspections of the entire property throughout the shift to ensure that the appearance of such areas reflects highly on the hotel, brand, and company.
- Execute the annual budget as provided by Lark Hotels.
- Use creative thinking to improve the property's product and service constantly. Responsible for collecting and accounting for all relevant revenues.
- Fiscal responsibility in scheduling. Control labor costs based on hotel occupancy, labor percentages, and service expectations.
- Plan, design, and direct work, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Elevate employee performance through motivation, encouragement, and timely and direct feedback.
- Foster a positive and cooperative work environment between staff and management. Maintain effective and efficient communication across departments.
- Assist with controlling departmental operating expenses through good practice, awareness, and controls.
- Assist with proper maintenance, operation, and training of all departmental systems, including PMS, credit card terminals, printers, copiers, telephones, and time clocks.
