About the Role:
BigRio is seeking a results-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our client’s executive team in the fast-growing genetics and laboratory services sector. The COO will be responsible for scaling operations, leading cross-functional execution, and ensuring excellence in day-to-day business and lab performance.
This role requires proven leadership in operations, HR, supply chain, and revenue cycle management, ideally within healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences. The COO will work closely with the CEO to align operational strategy with company vision and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations across lab services, logistics, staffing, and client delivery
- Oversee HR strategy, including hiring, workforce planning, and performance management
- Manage revenue cycle processes—billing, reimbursement, and payer relations
- Direct supply chain operations: procurement, inventory, and vendor management
- Drive process improvements for scalability, quality, and efficiency
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans across teams
- Ensure regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA) and quality standards
- Partner with the CEO to align operations with company-wide priorities
- Collaborate with R&D, product, BD, and finance to unify execution
- Build KPIs and dashboards to track performance and outcomes
- Develop and lead a high-performing, accountable operations team
Qualifications:
- 10 years of senior operations leadership, including 5 in COO or VP-level roles
- Background in healthcare, diagnostics, biotech, or genetics industries
- Deep experience in operations, HR, supply chain, and revenue cycle management
- Track record of scaling infrastructure in growth-stage or mid-sized companies
- Strong financial and P&L management skills
- Collaborative, hands-on leader with a data-driven approach
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) preferred
