Do you like working with kids? We are seeking an exceptional and dynamic leader for the position of Site Coordinator to run a before and after school programs at two of our sites, located in a Minneapolis public school in South Minneapolis.

Hours: 8:00-10:00 AM and 3:00-6:00 PM, Monday – Friday

A little about us:

Bilingual Learning Center (BLC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit enrichment program that is uniquely designed to meet the needs of students and parents alike through summer camp, before and after school programming and classes for students in PreK through 5th grade. Our program works within the city of Minneapolis with public, charter and private schools. Additionally, BLC is a fully bilingual program (English-Spanish) designed to foster a welcoming, multicultural, nurturing and fun environment, while promoting cultural experiences, a love for languages, successful academics, and leadership opportunities for our students. Position Description:
Reports to the Executive Director - General responsibilities include daily operation of the before and after school program, including but not limited to: strong leadership, overseeing personnel/program staff, consistent monitoring of before and after school programming, daily student attendance tracking and general program operation.

  • Conduct regular weekly staff meetings with Program Leaders (plan weekly programming as a team, and other organization initiatives: promoting, fundraising, and events)
  • Coordinate and oversee school pickups and walks to our site by organizing and delegating responsibilities among staff, creating a schedule for school walks, and actively participating as needed.
  • Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with program staff, school administration, and parents (promote our programs, create and maintain relationships, notify parents and partners via phone and email)
  • Maintain student participation and attendance throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities (work closely with marketing coordinator and director to collaborate on initiatives)
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to create and update the student roster by session and organize the student’s folder and attendance
  • Monitor student behavior on site during program hours and utilize appropriate disciplinary measures as necessary
  • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and orderly classroom and environment
  • Check email daily to ensure that program updates and communications are reviewed and responded to in a timely manner
  • Respond to inquiries from parents and students regarding program offerings, attendance, and registration procedures
  • Coordinate the snack distribution to students in before and the after-school program and properly track and account for all meals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Ability to collaborate with the Program Manager and engage with the community by promoting our programs and actively participating in events.
  • Some college coursework is required - coursework in education, social or human services, child development, or related field is desirable
  • One or more years' experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an after school, day camp or community youth outreach setting is preferred
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including Google Drive and Email
  • Able to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents and community leaders
  • Experience working with diverse populations (strongly preferred).
  • Able to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others
  • Able to respond to critical incidents and emergency situations with swift and mindful action
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills
  • Availability to work occasionally on evenings or weekends for field trips and special events

Since we work with school age children, a clean background is a must. You must have a reliable mode of transportation. The position is located in Risen Christ Catholic School and will be 2 hours in the morning from 8:00-10:00 AM and 3 hours in the afternoon from 3:00-6:00 PM, Monday-Friday.

Must be available to work these hours. Expect to work around 30-35 hours per week.
