Description:
To provide religious services, spiritual guidance, and counseling to patients in their home. Initiates pastoral contacts with patients and families and offer spiritual/emotional support regarding present illness and its impact on the patient’s life, i.e., able to identify and work with grief and loss issues.
Assists patients and families regarding religious, spiritual and cultural practices during their hospital stay. Includes identifying usefulness of religious rituals as part of the healing process.
Qualifications:
- Chaplain specializing in Cert of Endorsement obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. For those not certified as noted, ecclesiastical endorsement is required at the time of hire.
- Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC (or certification obtained within 2 years of hire, risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.
- Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field from an accredited school is required. 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE is required only if not board-certified.
