What we are looking for:
We are looking for a Senior AI Specialist/Data Scientist for an initial 3 month contract with strong potential to extend. Hybrid model, 1-2 days per week in the Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply a Data Science lens to support the development and implementation of generative AI solutions.
- Design, refine, and test AI/LLM models using structured datasets, ensuring they are fit for purpose and accurately trained.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prepare datasets for training, tuning, and validating AI models.
- Provide guidance on the responsible and effective use of AI in line with agency goals and Microsoft platform capabilities.
- Work closely with dashboard developers to embed or integrate AI-driven features where appropriate.
- Support documentation and knowledge sharing of AI model design and deployment considerations.
- Engage with end-users and business teams to ensure AI solutions meet both technical and operational expectations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven hands-on experience with Generative AI/LLMs, ideally within Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem (e.g., Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Machine Learning).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing datasets for AI model training and evaluation.
- Strong Python and/or R skills for data manipulation and model development.
- Familiarity with integrating AI outputs into business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI or similar).
- Ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable:
- Experience with Microsoft Co-Pilot integration and use cases in enterprise environments.
- Strong customer engagement skills with a focus on user adoption and solution impact.
- Background in delivery or implementation projects involving AI capabilities in public or enterprise sectors.
