POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher at the Journey Academy. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality instruction and support to students in an alternative setting. The English teacher will collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students while they receive additional support in social, emotional, and behavioral regulation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of students within the Journey Academy in our inaugural school year. Class sizes are small. The English teacher will teach three periods of English with options to teach electives, JMG, and/or ILC (Innovative Learning Center) classes for two of the five class periods. The successful candidate will have the ability to help guide and shape the trajectory of our school.

- Bachelors degree in Education
- Successful teaching experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):
- Teach the assigned courses utilizing the curriculum adopted by the Board of Trustees.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and/or procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, using varied instructional strategies in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluate pupils' academic growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare required reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and to interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils resolve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Create an effective environment for learning, recognizing displays and bulletin boards, and enhance learning.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided either by the District or through self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in curriculum development and the selection of resources as requested.
- Participate in faculty committees and support pupil activities.
