What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Specialist position at Billy Heroman's Flowerland?
Purpose of the Position:
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for overseeing the inventory of all non-fresh (i.e. flowers and plants) products and supplies utilized by Billy Heroman’s and handling their reordering as needed. Their areas of responsibility and involvement include all merchandise and giftware; all floral, plant, retail, and greenhouse supplies; and all other warehoused supplies and hard good items. In conducting their role, they work closely with other managers involved in the departments that utilize the goods and supplies their role is responsible for maintaining and ordering.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
· First and foremost, adhere to all Billy Heroman’s Flowerland core values and principal guidelines always.
· Have a team attitude to make sure each day we do what is necessary to take care of the customer.
· Responsible for negotiating the costs of inventory and freight options from all vendors.
· Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of inventory processes for all items under their care.
· Responsible to coordinate and place orders and reorders for all products and items under their care.
· Track incoming freight orders and to alert the appropriate team members of their anticipated arrival.
· Understand the seasonal nature of our business and adjust ordering volume and timing accordingly to properly prepare each team and area for success and efficient operations.
· Coordinate with other managers to ensure an efficient and organized layout to all inventory storage areas.
· Be prepared, capable and willing to work in a hands on fashion to facilitate and assist team members with the handling and sorting of freight and preparation of inventory for price tag application and distribution to the proper location. This can include working on your feet in the warehouse for whatever time is required to complete the work.
· Pricing all merchandise invoices as they become available, and having stickers prepared and ready ahead of the shipment arrival when at all possible.
· Coordinating with retail management and merchandisers to monitor merchandise inventory levels so that new shipments are split properly between locations and that all 3 stores are always furnished with a sufficient supply.
· Monitor merchandise sales trends and placing new orders and reorders to keep up with demand and not miss out on sales opportunities.
· Create and maintain an order/reorder system for all categories to work and follow to bring organization and structure to the process with multiple buyers involved.
· Preparing seasonal, quarterly, and annual budgets for merchandise inventory and presenting them to ownership.
· Prepare budgets ahead of the 2 -3 major market trips each year.
· Ensure that all supply and other inventory purchases are within budget or have been approved by ownership.
· Tracking sales to monitor the performance of each core product.
· Periodically analyze various suppliers to ensure the company is receiving the best cost-effective deals.
· Demonstrates an overall safety awareness daily.
· Maintains a clean and tidy work area to minimize safety risks and incidents.
· Demonstrates safe work habits by following proper procedures and protocols.
· Aware of reporting process for incident/injuries. Reports all incidents, injuries and near misses.
· Any other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· 2 years merchandise expediting experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises one team member who assists with inventory and pricing duties.
Work Environment:
This job operates in several areas, mixing between office, warehouse and retail store environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing; and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This position is full-time and requires the ability to work flexible hours, even on last-minute notice, including evenings and weekends.
