Job Description
The Driver will be responsible for the delivery of clean items to various estate locations as well as pick up of items inbound for the laundry. The driver will ensure the timely delivery of clean linens to the hotel(s) and food and beverage facilities operated by the company. Other duties include, but are not limited to: tracking and inventory control; order processing and quality inspection; packaging; and processing items in accordance with established standards. Drivers will also occasionally help laundry attendants assist with the provision of laundry cleaning activities in the central laundry facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: sorting, classifying, washing, drying, and ironing, folding, and packaging clean linens in accordance with established standards.
Essential Duties:
1. Count items for the day and inventory outgoing items
2. Maintain receipts, tracking and inventory for deliveries, pick-ups, and damage/loss.
3. Maintains positive and professional relationships with internal and external vendors and guests; works closely with guests to understand, anticipate, and plan for departmental needs and requests.
4. Inspect for quality control according to established standards
5. Sorts and properly stores all soiled linen; weighs linen and places into appropriate carts
6. Sorts and separates damaged or stained linen, to be repaired or converted to be used as rags
7. Observes safety rules and maintains a safe environment
8. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required
9. Cross trains on all laundry tasks and performs other related duties as required
10. Maintains facility, linen carts and supplies in a neat and organized manner to department standards
11. Complete all necessary administrative work related to receipt, processing, delivery, inspections, etc.
12. Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress
13. Follows company policies and procedure
Additional Duties:
1. Ability to cross-train on other positions within the laundry operation, including laundry attendant duties.
2. Provides general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company.
Qualifications:
1. Must be 19 years of age or older. 2. High school diploma preferred, but not required. 3. At least six months of previous driver experience working with a commercial delivery provider. Previous experience working as a commercial driver in the same or similar role is preferred. 4. Ability to operate commercial laundry machinery and equipment. 5. Excellent attention to detail. 6. The ability to effectively multi-task, organize, plan, and prioritize is an essential function of this job. 7. Ability to exercise good judgment and take initiative where appropriate. 8. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. 9. Proven commitment to delivering world class customer service. 10. Must have basic English language comprehension, writing, and speaking skills, and be able to respond appropriately to requests and inquires. 11. Ability to follow directions and instructions. 12. Ability to operate a commercial vehicle with automatic or standard transmission.
Physical Requirements:
1. Able to lift, carry and pull/push up to 50 -75 lbs on a regular basis; ability to pull/push up to 100 pounds occasionally.
2. Requires standing/walking/bending/stooping throughout the shift (8 hours).
3. Must be able to bend, reach, and kneel.
4. Ability to twist/grip items.
5. Must be able to respond to visual and audible cues, and understand and address issues as needed.
6. Must be able to work with varying noise levels.
7. Have the ability to work in warm/hot temperatures.
8. Must have valid NC Driver's License.
