Job Description
The starting pay range for this position begins at $21.00/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
The Winery Production Staff 2 position will support wine production at the Biltmore Wine Company and provide direct support to the Production Managers and winemakers when required. Specific assignments may be within and across bottling, the warehouse, and/or the cellar and can include: order preparation/delivery; invoicing, bottling , wine disgorging, fermentation, crushing, and barrel work. Incumbents at this level will be expected to be more "customer" facing, working with individuals in different areas. All assignments within the production process must be in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and should contribute to Biltmore's mission of offering world class products to guests. The Winery Product Staff 2 position will also provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and company
Essential Duties
Warehouse
1. Prepare (build, wrap, and load pallets) and deliver orders.
2. Accurately fill and invoice orders.
3. Coordinate with Marketing regarding special requests.
4. Assist with end of month inventorying and reporting.
5. Deliver to and from off-site locations.
6. Schedule inbound and outbound freight.
Bottling
1. Work and operate bottling line
2. Work and operate all aspects of sparkling wine production.
3. Sanitize and sterilize bottling and filtration equipment
4. Organize and keep track of inventory to include bottles, caps, corks and labels.
5. Clean bottling areas and cellar as needed.
Cellar
1. Operate crush/harvest and cellar equipment
2. Support fermentation and cold stabilization processes
3. Unload tankers.
4. Sample and measure tanker volumes.
5. Process grape reception at harvest to ensure production quality and standards are met.
6. Top, empty, fill, hydrate, and wash barrels.
7. Analyze grape, juices, and wines.
All
1. Keep assigned area clean and organized
2. Assist other departments as needed.
3. Comply with safety measures and procedures.
4. Repair and maintain winery equipment as needed.
5. Understand wine making processes within other departments.
6. Train new crew members and temporary workers on wine-making procedures and processes; serve as a resource and point of contact, providing instruction to others.
7. Organize daily work schedule in absence of manager; coordinate and schedule with other departments.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred. Must be able to certify on forklift operation. Combination of education/experience may be considered;
2. At lease two years of relevant wine making, warehouse, and/or bottling experience is required.
3. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to convey information, including technical data, clearly, concisely, and effectively to a variety of audiences.
5. Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills; ability to prioritize work under deadline and adjust accordingly, as situations change.
6. Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and troubleshoot is essential; good judgment when anticipating and addressing issues.
7. Keen attention to detail with a focus on quality and service.
8. Ability to work as a team player but also independently, if required, in a fast paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
1. Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification .
2. Valid driver's license, and must be at least 21 years of age.
3. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift.
4. Ability to work effectively for 8 hour shifts and overtime as needed.
5. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to access tanks, machinery, and equipment.
6. Full range of motion and manual dexterity to access and operate equipment; should be
able to bend, squat, crouch, kneel, reach overhead/below.
