Role Summary

Reporting to Senior Director of North American Technical Services, the Technical Service Veterinarian will interact face to face with our customers, understand their needs and consult to offer the right solutions, work collaboratively with our territory sales representatives and play a critical role in supporting our customer centric business model.

This field-based position is responsible for providing technical support to sales and marketing for our company's Animal Health products specific to the US Cattle business with additional responsibility as needed in other food animal and equine. Responsibilities include providing technical support for cattle products and programs, including response to product inquiries and adverse reports in accordance with internal, FDA, CFIA and USDA regulatory policies. The position will require developing research trial protocols, trial monitoring, and summarizing clinical and marketing support trials specific to beef cattle health. Position will be required to maintain contact with key industry professionals to include academic and veterinary-related individuals or groups. Additional duties will include attending and presenting in prominent industry scientific meetings.

This role will also collaborate and support the rest of the Bimeda Biologicals Cattle Sales and Marketing Team working collaboratively with the Director of US Cattle Sales to identify and develop product training and support of strategies specifically for Bimeda portfolios, alignment of resources, and identifying new opportunities.

Key Role Specific Requirements

Technical Service Veterinarian

  • Collaborate with cattle territory sales representatives to provide research-backed technical information to veterinarians, cow/calf operators, feedlots, stockers, academics, and distributors.
  • Contribute to new product development, vaccination protocols, product directions, adverse event reporting, and addressing cattle health issues and customer complaints.
  • Serve as a scientific speaker at key beef industry events, sharing non-proprietary research and representing our company’s expertise.
  • Work with the marketing team to create technical and marketing materials for Animal Health products.
  • Provide training and support to the sales team and customer service on product implementation.
  • Travel will make up at least 50% of the role, prioritized by customer value and return on investment.
  • Utilize CRM via Salesforce for effective communication of projects and results.
  • Present technical data to veterinary peers and animal owners.
  • Act as a liaison with researchers in various settings to share innovative product information.
  • Assist R&D with product evaluations, licensing trials, and field trials, offering technical support for new products.
  • Contribute to new product development, vaccination protocols, product directions, adverse event reporting, and addressing cattle health issues and customer complaints.

Commercial Development Activities

  • Training and supporting distributor outside and inside sales representatives.
  • Assisting regional branches of Bimeda’s distribution partners.
  • Developing an effective travel plan to promote Bimeda products.
  • Providing competitive intelligence through SalesForce and other channels.
  • Sharing technical information to aid sales and marketing efforts, including data reviews and industry trends.
  • Attending tradeshows to promote Bimeda’s products.
  • Offering monthly updates on opportunities and challenges related to competitors.

Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Work with management to create technical service and research cost budgets.
  • Manage technical service budgets and expenses.
  • Monitor industry trends as they relate to Bimeda products and product opportunities

Commercial Team Cooperation

  • Participate in meetings and conference calls, as requested in order to progress sales efforts and opportunities.
  • Interact with Sales and Marketing routinely to discuss current market trends, ongoing action plans, etc.
  • Interact with Cattle Sales and Marketing as needed to support sales initiatives
  • Interact with the Marketing department, as needed
  • Attend Regional and National meetings, as required
  • Travel with Bimeda management and Cattle Sales representatives, as required

Other Requirements

Essential :

  • Multiple years of animal health industry experience
  • Biological product sales experience
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Accomplished sales professional with an excellent reputation in the cattle industry
  • Strong knowledge and relationships in cattle industry
  • Ability to understand technical writings and to create technical writings.
  • Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M)/ VMD degree.
  • Previous experience in bovine respiratory disease management and control
  • Previous experience in Cattle immunology and vaccinology and the selling of antibiotics
  • Basic understanding of general animal health products (antibiotics, parasiticides, hormones, etc.)
  • Commitment to team participation, growth, and feedback
  • Willingness to collaborate across departmental lines and species
  • Professional attention to detail
  • Self-starter/Self-directed

Desirable

  • Proven track record and performance in the sales of products into large cattle operations
  • Autogenous vaccine selling experience is a major plus.
  • Broad understanding of animal health biologics and pharmaceuticals.
  • Proven relationships with large cattle operation management and ownership.
  • Bachelors or Masters of Science .
  • Degree in Agriculture or Business
  • Large cattle operations use of Animal Health products experience .
  • Foundations of personality profiles
  • Any other language skills will be a plus
