JOB SUMMARY:
At AKG the Test Validation Engineer is responsible of conducting development, performance and validation testing for heat exchanger applications. Analytically evaluate system performance characteristics. Operate, maintain and repair in house testing equipment. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and be system process oriented. Relies heavily on previous testing environment experience, good engineering and technical judgment, general knowledge of mechanical machinery/equipment operation and equipment troubleshooting. Requires ability to work in ambient temperature extremes, compact/tight spaces, very loud areas, at height (roofs, ladders etc.), around high voltages and currents, around very high temperature fluids and components and with heavy equipment, machinery and tools. At times, the job will require sitting at a desk for 8 hours.

Essential Functions
- Report to Manager of R&D and NPI
- Plan and conduct development, performance and validation testing
- Use analytical methods to evaluate engineering data
- Report and provide expertise on testing results
- Review engineering drawings, manuals and technical documents
- Develop manuals, procedures, processes and work instructions as necessary
- Develop, install, operate and maintain in house testing equipment
- Set up, operate and maintain data acquisition equipment in the laboratory and field
- Adhere to R&D facility safety standards and requirements
- Utilize a variety of measurement sensors (flow, pressure, temp etc.)
- Perform dissection and analysis on test specimens when necessary
- Maintain calibration of testing equipment
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 2-5 years’ experience in a controlled engineering laboratory testing environment
- Proficient in mechanical and electrical system design, maintenance and repair
- 2-5 years of experience with lab software and PLC control
- Strong analytical understanding of engineering principles
- Expertise in engineering data collection and analysis
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Review of engineering drawings, manuals and technical documents
- M.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC and Labview
- Welding and fabrication (steel and aluminum)
- Familiar operating with high voltage equipment (AC and DC)
- Experience with destructive failure analysis
