We're seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our client's dynamic team and play a pivotal role in our month-end close and regulatory reporting processes. In this leadership role, you'll provide oversight, management, and guidance (for complex issues) while ensuring exceptional financial results.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
Oversee the commission accounting process for our sales staff.
Manage treasury activity recording and ensure accurate principal and interest calculations for our diverse product base.
Review and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
Partner with the team to prepare month-end financial statements.
Calculate and analyze month-end inventory haircuts for regulatory compliance.
Assist in filing monthly regulatory reports and supplemental filings.
Participate in year-end audits, regulatory reviews, and tax assessments.
Champion the development and maintenance of robust accounting processes and controls for new products and lines of business.
Drive the formalization and optimization of financial reporting control processes.
Safeguard the integrity of the general ledger through meticulous oversight.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of proven accounting experience in public accounting (audit/tax) or financial reporting/accounting policy/corporate finance within the financial services industry (a blend of public and private experience is ideal).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA license preferred).
Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles.
Proficiency in Excel with advanced functions like PivotTables, VLookUps, and SumIFs.
Working knowledge of the securities or banking industry.
